Opened in 1908 the Melling Railway Station exhibits many of the traditional architectural features of stations across New Zealand. These buildings were largely constructed in timber and originally featured decorative cast-iron veranda posts, bay porches, ornate gable ends and lattice windows.

Some surrounding features in this image have been digitally retouched to give the building prominence in its environment.
